Drake's Three New Albums Get Gargantuan First Week Sales Projections

Drake’s “ICEMAN” is leading the pack when it comes to first week sales projections, but “HABIBTI” and “MAID OF HONOUR” rank high regardless.

Drake shocked the world by dropping three albums in one night (ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR) instead of just the icy installment he originally promised. Unsurprisingly, it looks like this is going to cause an earthquake on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as we now have early first week sales projections for each of these records.

ICEMAN is leading the way with 480K-520K as first week sales projections, according to Kurrco on Twitter. This is unsurprising given the album’s length, its singles and leaks building anticipation, and its rap-centric direction being what many fans longed for.

As for the R&B-centric HABIBTI, it could reportedly move anywhere from 110K to 130K album-equivalent units in its first week. This seems to be the most agreed-upon LP of the bunch when it comes to overall consensus, avoiding criticisms of beef narratives and tapping into Drizzy’s lovelorn melodic talents.

Finally, the clubby and divisive MAID OF HONOUR is projected to sell anywhere between 115K and 135K album-equivalent units in its first week. While some of its playful risks and poppy appeals didn’t land for fans, others see it as refreshingly fun and genuinely challenging for his artistry.

All in all, these early first week sales projections for these full-lengths suggest the Toronto superstar could amass a combined strength of 705K-785K album-equivalent units in their first week. We’ll have to wait another week to see what the final Billboard tally is, and where their tracks will land on the Hot 100 chart.

J. Cole is about to embark on a world tour for his new album The Fall-Off, but his “Trunk Sale” tour prepared fans in a very wholesome way. It seems like it came to a close after his Honda Civic broke down, but he still chose to make a special moment out of it.

At the Phoenix repair shop where the CD-carrying vehicle got fixed, Cole filmed and dropped the “Old Dog” music video in his latest and final “Trunk Sale” tour vlog on YouTube. The Petey Pablo collab puts on heavily for North Carolina, and it’s very cool to see these impromptu releases.

The visual begins at around the 2:55-minute mark of the video below. J. Cole did something similar with “Legacy,” dropping that music video in the middle of a vlog. With the final stop being in Los Angeles a few days ago, the “Trunk Sale” tour wrapped up with one last vlog. Although many folks have divisive opinions on it, every clip of Cole with fans or hanging out with his friends shuts the haters down decisively.

Elsewhere during this last “Trunk Sale” tour vlog, J. Cole reflected on The Fall-Off’s rollout and what it means to him. You can catch these reflections at around the 20:20-minute mark of the video below.

He spoke on working on The Fall-Off for ten years and perfecting it, releasing other projects in that time more casually, and the fulfillment and happiness he feels now that he engaged with fans in person. Stepping out of a typically secluded lifestyle speaks to how proud the Dreamville artist is of this album.

“To see this much [love] in a condensed time period, person after person… You get to see the real-world result of the music,” he expressed. “The Internet has f***ed s**t up so much for me where sometimes, you just see numbers. The number of views on a video or the number of streams. You become numb. What the f**k does that even mean?

After the triumphant returns of the Clipse, Mobb Deep and De La Soul last year, T.I. is the latest rap veteran looking to make a comeback.

Having spent the last few years focusing on his comedy career and expediTIously podcast, as well as fighting a few legal battles, the Grand Hustle general announced over the weekend: “T.I. is back.”

Tip kickstarted his comeback campaign by releasing a new single called “Let Em Know,” produced by longtime collaborator and Producer of the Year candidate (thanks to his work on the Clipse’s Grammy-nominated Let God Sort Em Out) Pharrell.

Backed by a bouncy, speaker-rattling beat from Skateboard P, who is responsible for past T.I. hits like “Blurred Lines,” “I’m Serious” and “Get Back Up” as well as the bulk of his 2014 album Paperwork, the Bankhead bully gets right back in his bag with a braggadocious anthem.

“All they do is fight for number two ’cause I’m the one / Still make ’em play with the one / All we know is success, hit her with some rich sex / Good luck gettin’ your bitch back, she forever mine ’til I let her go,” he spits.

Adding to the resurgence, T.I. has also cut off his dreads and returned to his familiar low fade — the clean-cut hairstyle that he rocked throughout his 2000s prime.

“Let Em Know” is the first preview of T.I.’s long-awaited new album Kill the King, which will mark his final full-length release and first since 2020’s The L.I.B.R.A..

In a 2023 appearance on the We In Miami podcast, the Atlanta native revealed that the project will be a double album, with side A titled Kill the King and side B labeled Kiss the King.

He also said NBA YoungBoy would be featured on one of the first singles — a track he said will subvert fans’ expectations — although it’s unclear if that’s still the plan.

Mac Miller’s Estate Drops 3 New Songs For ‘GO:OD AM’ 10th Anniversary

Mac Miller fans have been blessed with three new songs as part of a 10th anniversary edition of GO:OD AM.

Uploaded to streaming services on Friday (October 3), the batch of previously unreleased tracks include “Cable Box,” “Carpe Diem” and “Royal Flush,” a collaboration with Vinny Radio.

Frequent Mac Miller collaborator and fellow Pittsburgh native ID Labs produced “Cable Box” and “Royal Flush,” while “Carpe Diem” features atmospheric production from Clams Casino, who previously worked with Mac on projects like Blue Slide Park, Macadelic and Watching Movies With the Sound Off.

The best of the bunch is the latter, which finds the Most Dope MC flexing his nimble, introspective rhymes and melodic yet melancholic singing voice while reflecting on the ups and downs of his rise to fame.

A particular line early on in the song will hit deep for most Mac fans when he prophetically raps: “One day I’ma be the greatest, retire my jersey.” You can’t help but wonder how his career (and life) would have panned out had he not tragically passed away seven years ago.

GO:OD AM (10th Anniversary) is the second posthumous Mac Miller offering this year following Balloonerism, which was released by his estate in January.

Featuring collaborations with close friends SZA and Thundercat, the project was originally recorded in 2014 around the same time as Faces, but was shelved in favor of GO:OD AM, Mac’s major label debut.

The 14-track effort, which captured Mac’s artistic evolution as he experimented with sounds, instruments and genres, debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 after earning 81,000 units in its first week.

Drake Teases New Album

Aubrey has been doing some frigid foreshadowing for the past several months. Back in February, he teased the LP during an Anita Max Win Tour stop in Australia.

“Eventually, when the time is right, Drizzy Drake alone by himself is gonna have to have a one-on-one talk to y’all,” he told the Australian crowd. “When the time is right, I’ll be back with another album—a one-on-one conversation with y’all that you need to hear.”

The following month, he shared an ominous message on Instagram that appeared to reference his return. “U know I grew up non confrontational and always treated this game as a sport where my pen won gold, but my these days the podium has been hard for all of us to ignore,” it read.

“I understand that this next chapter may leave you feeling uneasy, but I hope you see my honesty as clarity not charity that answers some questions especially about the unanswered texts you’ve been sending me,” Drake added.

Since then, Drake’s provided more icy implications. In April, he appeared on a livestream with Adin Ross where he teased the new album. He did so while rocking a hoodie with “ICEMAN KIMI” stitched on it—a nod to F1 legend Kimi Räikkönen.

The following month, Drake shared an Instagram post with a carousel of photos with the caption “Iceman.” The post featured a signed George Gervin jersey—a former NBA legend known as the Iceman. The other pictures included iced-out jewelry and a painting of an icy mountain scene.
