Uploaded to streaming services on Friday (October 3), the batch of previously unreleased tracks include “Cable Box,” “Carpe Diem” and “Royal Flush,” a collaboration with Vinny Radio.
Frequent Mac Miller collaborator and fellow Pittsburgh native ID Labs produced “Cable Box” and “Royal Flush,” while “Carpe Diem” features atmospheric production from Clams Casino, who previously worked with Mac on projects like Blue Slide Park, Macadelic and Watching Movies With the Sound Off.
The best of the bunch is the latter, which finds the Most Dope MC flexing his nimble, introspective rhymes and melodic yet melancholic singing voice while reflecting on the ups and downs of his rise to fame.
A particular line early on in the song will hit deep for most Mac fans when he prophetically raps: “One day I’ma be the greatest, retire my jersey.” You can’t help but wonder how his career (and life) would have panned out had he not tragically passed away seven years ago.
The three new songs can be streamed below.
GO:OD AM (10th Anniversary) is the second posthumous Mac Miller offering this year following Balloonerism, which was released by his estate in January.
Featuring collaborations with close friends SZA and Thundercat, the project was originally recorded in 2014 around the same time as Faces, but was shelved in favor of GO:OD AM, Mac’s major label debut.
The 14-track effort, which captured Mac’s artistic evolution as he experimented with sounds, instruments and genres, debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 after earning 81,000 units in its first week.
In his first significant acting role, Rocky plays the son of Washington’s character in Lee’s newest movie Highest 2 Lowest.
Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Lee said: “Yeah, don’t sleep on A$AP. In this film, Denzel and A$AP go toe-to-toe. What’s interesting is, even before I got involved with this film, I always thought that A$AP looked like he could be Denzel’s son. There’s a big resemblance. So when you see it on the screen, it adds an element of father and son.”
He reiterated: “Don’t sleep on A$AP. I’ve done five films with Denzel, and a lot of times when he’s in a scene with somebody, they just get overwhelmed. He’s one of the greatest living actors today, but A$AP wasn’t having that. Toe-to-toe, I mean, they were going at it.”
Rocky previously revealed the type of music Washington likes to listen to while on set.
He said: “Denzel would pull up to the movie set playing Pooh Shiesty and Moneybagg Yo, swear to God. Can’t make this up.”
Rocky added: “He likes to listen to Memphis rappers, but modern Memphis rappers. Then he started quoting NLE Choppa. I’m like, ‘You know NLE Choppa?!’ He like, ‘I don’t do drive-bys now, walk ’em down.’ I’m like, ‘Yo, Denzel, chill!’ It was crazy, he’s really tapped in, man.”
Highest 2 Lowest is billed as a “reinterpretation” of Akira Kurosawa’s classic 1963 film High and Low.
The Japanese crime film was based on the Ed McBain novel King’s Ransom, which tells the story of a businessman’s ruin following a ransom payment to kidnappers.
Spike also said to Deadline: “In Kurosawa’s film, Toshiro Mifune is a shoemaker. In our film Denzel Washington is a music mogul with his own label and his reputation as the best ears in the business. So, this is the fifth film with the dynamic duo.”
Rocky has previously acted in Hip Hop influenced comedy-drama Dope and is also set to be seen in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
He has also made numerous cameos as himself in films such as Zoolander 2 and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
Ice Spice became a breakout star over the last 15 months. Following the release of her “Munch (Feelin’ U)” single in August 2022, the 23-year-old newcomer quickly rose up the music ranks.
This year saw Ice Spice score multiple Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. As a result, Billboard has named Ice Spice as the outlet’s 2023 R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie Of The Year.
“I have put in so much hard work, and it means a lot to be recognized for it and have more than just plaques to show for it,” Spice told the long-running music magazine.
Ice Spice started 2023 by linking up with British singer PinkPantheress for the “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” collaboration, which peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100.
Ice Spice also connected with rap superstar Nicki Minaj for two songs this year. Both “Princess Diana” (No. 4) and “Barbie World” (No. 7) made it into the Hot 100’s Top 10.
Taylor Swift embraced the rap upstart as well. The 12x-Grammy Award winner tapped Spice for “Karma,” which just missed the top spot on the Hot 100, landing at No. 2.
The Like..? EP rapper has the chance to pick up four Grammys at the February 2024 ceremony: Best New Artist, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Billboard also released its Top New Artists year-end chart. Ice Spice placed at No. 4 behind country singer Zach Bryan (No. 1), Latin singer Peso Pluma (No. 2) and country singer Bailey Zimmerman (No. 3).
Ice Spice also finished at No. 5 on 2023’s Hot 100 Artists – Female chart. R&B vocalist SZA led that list. Taylor Swift (No. 2), Miley Cyrus (No. 3) and Olivia Rodrigo (No. 4) rounded out the rest of the Top 5.
Latto hit the jackpot with “Seven,” her new collab with BTS’ Jung Kook, which has risen to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking the first time a rapper has had a No. 1 song on the chart in 2023.
On Monday (July 24), Billboard announced the updated top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, which revealed Jung Kook’s new single “Seven” with Latto is in the top spot. This marks the “Big Energy” rapper’s first No. 1. Jung is now the second member of the K-Pop boy band to have a No. 1 record after Jimin’s “Like Crazy” debuted No. 1 in April. Other rappers with songs on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart include Gunna (“F*kumean), which sits at No. 6., and Lil Durk and J. Cole (“All My Life”), which is No. 10.
It’s been rough sledding for hip-hop in 2023. The genre has only had one album to top the Billboard 200 chart this year, Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape, which dropped on June 30. Last month, Coi Leray called for unity among female rappers and urged them to come together to make 2023’s first No. 1 hit. It looks like Latto hit the winning number first.
The NYC rapper first shared a snippet of the track during Friday’s (Sept. 9) episode of Queen Radio. She revealed BIA and JT of the City Girls are on the remix and also teased the song has six verses.
“There were 5 verses on the #queenMix,” Nicki Minaj tweeted. “But someone else demanded to be a part of the celebration @ the last minute chi. CLAIM YOUR VERSE NOW. WITHOUT HEARING IT, GUESS WHICH VERSE WILL BE YOUR FAVE NOW!!!! You can choose up to 2 verses. Only comment once!!!”
Nicki Minaj Previewed ‘Queen Mix’ On Queen Radio

Alongside JT and BIA, Nicki Minaj is joined by Katie Got Bandz, Akbar V, and Maliibu Mitch. Her alter ego Roman also makes an appearance at the end of the track, which clocks in at nearly four minutes long. Stream ‘Super Freaky Girl Queen Mix’ at the end of the page.
While some fans questioned why Nicki’s choice of features, a retweet from the rapper explained her selection.
Some of her collaborators took to social media to celebrate Nicki Minaj and the Queen Mix. Chicago drill rapper Katie got Bandz paid tribute to Nicki, declaring, “I LOVE YOU QUEEN 🤞🏼💜🌹👑” before instructing her followers to go run the numbers up.
