What Has B.G. Been Doing Since Being Released From Prison?

On Tuesday (Sept. 5), XXL confirmed that B.G. had been released from prison after being incarcerated for almost a decade. In 2012, Baby Gangsta, popularly known as B.G., was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for gun possession and witness tampering. Once B.G. became a free man, Birdman hopped on Instagram Live and recorded himself greeting B.G. at what seems to be an airport, which can be seen below. Additionally, Birdman gifted the New Orleans rapper with an icy pendant.

With his newfound freedom, B.G. has also gotten a chance to catch up with Maino, The Game, Wack 100 and Bun B on FaceTime. The footage can be seen below.

On Sept. 5, Bun B went on Instagram and posted a picture of himself on FaceTime with B.G. and Birdman. Underneath the post, the legendary rapper stated that a Hot Boy Reunion was in the works.

“The call we been waiting for!” Bun B typed in the caption of the post below. “@birdman hit me up to show me @new_bghollyhood is a free man! This put a smile on my face! God is great! Hot Boys reunion coming soon!”

Bun B, B.G. and other members from Hot Boys collaborated on the 1997 track, “I’m Com’n.”

B.G. has also been working on new music. On Wednesday (Sept. 6), the rapper went on Instagram and uploaded a snippet of his upcoming single. In the caption for the post, B.G. hinted at dropping a new record soon.

“The rebirth of the #ComeBackKid #RealN***a Season #OTW,” B.G. typed in the caption of the post below. “The love and support is overwhelming [praying hands emoji].
Thank you for holding a real n***a down. #IAppreciateYOU [100 emoji]. I will not disappoint you #WorthTheWait [music note emoji]. #BGFREE #LivingLegend.”

Additionally, he’s been sharing dozens of messages from fans on Instagram and reposting them on his Instagram stories.

Biggie’s Son To Make Documentary About His Dad From His Perspective

Biggie’s Son To Make Documentary About His Dad From His Perspective

CJ Wallace said the film documents his “personal journey” to “understanding” his father.

Source: AllHipHop

A documentary about The Notorious B.I.G. will be dropping soon via Time Studios. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is currently producing “an intimate look at the untold life story of one of the greatest rappers to ever live … from the perspective of the son who never knew him.”

His son, Christopher Wallace, Jr., was only five months old when his father was murdered on March 9, 1997. Time Studios revealed the documentary delves into a dual narrative that spans the lives of both Christopher Jr. and Sr. from the 1980s to the present day. Directing the film is Vikram Gandhi, renowned for his work on projects such as “Barry,” “69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez” and “Trigger Warning with Killer Mike.”

It explores profound themes such as identity, legacy and fatherhood. As Christopher Jr. embarks on a personal quest to unravel his own destiny, his journey uncovers a comprehensive and previously unseen depiction of his father.

“Over the past few years, I realized my personal journey is connected to understanding who Christopher George Latore Wallace was outside of his big rap persona,” C.J. Wallace said. “I am on a journey to fully understand the world he lived in and the massive impact he had on American and Black history and by doing so, I can ensure that I honor his hopes and dreams while I build and create my own legacy for future generations of Wallaces.”

No release date has been announced.

Coi Leray Calls For “Ladies Night” Collab With Modern-Day Female Rappers

Coi Leray Calls For “Ladies Night” Collab With Modern-Day Female Rappers

It looks like Leray wants to recreate the vibe of a Lil Kim classic.

Source: AllHipHop

There have been a lot of high-profile all-female rap collaborations in recent years. As women continue to dominate Hip-Hop in 2023, Coi Leray wants her peers to come together for a potential chart-topping posse cut.

Hip-Hop legend Lil Kim famously linked up with Da Brat, Missy Elliott, Angie Martinez and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes for “Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix)” in 1997. The song reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track’s music video featured cameos by Mary J. Blige, T-Boz, Queen Latifah, SWV, Xscape, Total and more. Coi Leray wants to recreate that moment.

“Ain’t been a #1 rap song at all this year. Calling all the female rappers to [the] front,” she tweeted. “[Hear] me out. Ladies night. Hip Hop. Unity. #splash. Let’s make history with a number 1… together… with love. #justanidea.”

Coi Leray has worked with other female rappers throughout her short career. For example, she collaborated with Nicki Minaj for 2022’s “Blick Blick” single. The record peaked at No. 37 on the Hot 100 chart.

“Blick Blick” lives on Leray’s debut studio album, Trendsetter, which arrived in April 2022. The Republic recording artist will drop her self-titled sophomore LP on June 23.

Before Coi lands on DSPs, Coi Leray will hit the stage on June 19 for CNN’s televised Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom. She’ll also be part of the lineup for Kid Cudi’s 2023 Moon Man’s Landing.

This year has already seen well-received, all-women collaborations such as Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s “Princess Diana” as well as Latto and Cardi B’s “Put It On Da Floor Again.”

OutKast Fan Recreates ‘ATLiens’ Beat & Gets Surprise From Killer Mike: ‘Day Made’

OutKast Fan Recreates ‘ATLiens’ Beat & Gets Surprise From Killer Mike: ‘Day Made'

An OutKast fan was inspired to recreate one of the group’s classic tracks and share it, only to find Killer Mike did the same, accompanied by someone special.

Source:  HipHopDX

On Tuesday (May 16), Menace, a Dallas DJ, uploaded a clip to his perspective social media pages showing him recreating the beat for OutKast’s “ATLiens.” The clip immediately sparked excitement and nostalgia among fans.

However, this wasn’t what caught the DJ’s attention, it was a message from Killer Mike, who contacted Menace and expressed his love of the rework. Additionally, he mentioned that he had shared it with Big Boi of OutKast.

“How fun is my life? Earlier today I made a video recreating the “Atliens” beat with the original sample. Hours later I get a text from Killer Mike as he’s watching the video with fucking BIG BOI in the studio!!!! Ha! Day made,” he wrote on Twitter.

“ATLiens” was the second single from the duo’s classic album of the same name, which was released in August 1996. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, and sold nearly 350,000 copies in the first few weeks of release.

OutKast — comprised of André “3000” Benjamin and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton — exploded onto the scene in the early ’90s with their debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, not only making them commercially successful, but driving Southern Hip Hop into the mainstream.

Many people, including Joe Budden, agree that the duo is among the best in Hip Hop history. During his appearance on Drink Champs in March, the rapper crowned OutKast the greatest rap group of all time when asked to pick between Mobb Deep or OutKast.

“OutKast is the greatest group of all time but I’m from New York,” Budden said. “I’m from New York, I mean but OutKast is better than Mob Deep. I’m not gonna be on camera saying otherwise. But Queens, Mobb Deep rest in peace Prodigy.”

Mack 10 Reveals He & Ice Cube Haven’t Spoken In Almost 20 Years

Mack 10 Reveals He & Ice Cube Haven't Spoken In Almost 20 Years

Mack 10 has revealed he hasn’t seen or spoken to Ice Cube in almost two decades since their falling-out.

Source: HipHopDX

The West Coast rap veteran was asked about his long-running rift with Cube in an interview with Bootleg Kev, admitting their relationship has remained frosty since they parted ways back in the mid 2000s.

“I fuck with who fuck with me, you dig? That’s where I’m at with it. If you fuck with me, I fuck with you. But if it’s fuck me, it’s fuck you,” Mack said.

“I ain’t seen him or talked to him in damn near 20 years, so there it is.”

Their bad blood has even deterred Mack from listening to Cube’s Mount Westmore album with Snoop Dogg, Too $hort and E-40, which dropped in December.

“I’ve heard bits and pieces of it, but not really,” he replied when asked if he’s heard the West Coast supergroup’s debut project. “Westside Connection was a movement. It was a little different.”

Mack 10 and Ice Cube joined forces alongside WC in the mid 1990s to form the supergroup Westside Connection, who released their critically acclaimed and commercially successful debut album Bow Down in ’96.

The California trio regrouped in 2003 for their second and final project Terrorist Threats, before Mack quit the group just a few years later after a falling-out with Cube.

In an interview with VladTV in 2020, Mack confirmed his departure stemmed from him getting into an altercation with Cube’s brother-in-law, who he alluded to “fuck[ing] my money up.”

“It was just an unfortunate situation, as far as what came out of all that,” he said. “It ain’t like that just happened … I went to Cube about four or five times before the conflict jumped off and told him to correct the situation. That’s the part that everybody leaves out.”

He added: “If it was my wife’s brother, I would’ve told him he can’t fuck my money up and he can’t be out of line with nobody I’m getting down with. And if you got that big of a problem with him, stay at home. My wife’s brother wouldn’t have stopped shit for me, with him.”

Mack clarified that his and Cube’s disagreement didn’t escalate beyond a verbal argument, saying: “Me and Cube didn’t have no fight or nothing like that. We had an argument, but okay, I thought that was it.”
