Many of Hip-Hop’s biggest stars have been giving back during this holiday season, spreading love to those in need.

Three of them, Fetty Wap, T.I., and 50 Cent, had events servicing their community, and people were smiling ear-to-ear in gratitude.

Fetty Wap, a New Jersey native, hosted his giveaway on Tuesday, November 22nd, in Patterson, NJ, providing the community with bags full of must-haves for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, according to CBS.

The “Trap Queen” artist partnered with Colleges Achieve School, led by Dr. Gemar Mills to help about 500 family members. Fetty Wap was not in attendance because he is currently in prison for dealing kilos of cocaine, but his family members came out in proxy.

On the same day, T.I. hosted his 17th Annual Turkey Giveaway to hundreds in Northwest Atlanta, KWCH reports. This charitable effort did more than give away birds, but also provided bags (branded by Humana, the partner) of meal essentials.

“I can’t say how much this event means because I know now people in this area deserve to have a happy holiday,” Tip said. “They deserve to eat with their families and be at peace, just like everyone else does. So whatever we can do to provide that for them it brings me, my wife, my children the utmost honor.”

Queens native and new Houston transplant 50 Cent hooked up with the Houston Rockets’ Clutch City Foundation to help the underserved and vulnerable through his G-Unity Foundation.

The meal included a turkey and food items donated by the G-Unity Foundation, Kroger, and Spec’s. In total, Fif blessed 1,000 people.

In addition to the food, guests received a ticket voucher to an upcoming Rockets home game, Click 2 Houston stated.

While not a rapper, Usher, another Atlanta hero, hosted a holiday giveback on Wednesday, November 23rd, at the Freedom Village Family Service Center in Sandy Springs, GA.

Like the artists, we hope all have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

2023 Grammy Nominations

2023 grammy nominations

Source: HipHopDX

The 2023 Grammy nominations have been announced. The Recording Academy unveiled the full list of nominees on Tuesday (November 15) ahead of the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, which take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California on February 5, 2023.

Beyoncé leads all artist with nine nominations, followed by Kendrick Lamar with eight. Adele trails with seven nods, while Future, Lizzo and Mary J. Blige each have six.

In the rap categories, Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Pusha T’s It’s Almost Dry, Future’s I Never Liked You, DJ Khaled’s God Did and Jack Harlow’s Come Home the Kids Miss You will battle it out for Best Rap Album, while the award for Best Rap Song will be decided between Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5,” Future’s “Wait For U,” Gunna’s “Pushin P,” DJ Khaled’s “God Did” and Jack Harlow’s “Churchill Downs.”

Breakout stars GloRilla and Latto both earn their first-ever Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance (“F.N.F. (Let’s Go)”) and Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Big Energy (Live)”), respectively, while veterans JAY-Z, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross are also in the mix.

Beyoncé’s nine nominations pushes her career total to 88, making her the most nominated artist in Grammys history — tied with her husband JAY-Z, who adds another three nods to his name thanks to his show-stealing verse on DJ Khaled’s “God Did.” With just four wins, Queen Bey could become the most awarded artist in Grammys history.

Fans may notice several big names missing from this year’s nominees. Prior to the nominations being announced, Drake, The Weeknd and Silk Sonic (Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars) all declined to submit their respective solo material for Grammys consideration.

Drizzy and Abel didn’t give a reason for their snubs, but the Canadian superstars have both been vocal critics of the Grammys in the past. Silk Sonic “respectfully” bowed out after previously stealing the spotlight at the 2022 Grammys, where “Leave the Door Open” won Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

“We truly put our all on this record, but Silk Sonic would like to gracefully, humbly and most importantly, sexually, bow out of submitting our album this year,” Bruno Mars said in a statement. “We hope we can celebrate with everyone on a great year of music and partake in the party. Thank you for letting Silk Sonic thrive.”

He added: “Andy and I, and everyone that worked on this project, won the moment the world responded to ‘Leave the Door Open.’ Everything else was just icing on the cake. We thank the Grammys for allowing us to perform on their platform — not once but twice — and awarding us at last year’s ceremony. We’d be crazy to ask for anything more.”

DJ Drama Teases Star-Studded New Album Featuring Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby & More

DJ Drama Teases Star-Studded New Album Featuring Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby & More

DJ Drama has shed some light on his new album, I’m Really Like That, giving fans a glimpse at some of the big names set to appear on the project.

Source: HipHopDX

The legendary Gangsta Grillz DJ shared several photos on Instagram on Thursday (November 10) showing him putting in work on the album in the studio. In his caption, Drama hinted at the project arriving sooner rather than later.

“ALBUM MODE IM REALLY LIKE THAT COMING SOON GEN•NOW,” he wrote.

DJ Drama’s slideshow included photos of a heavily redacted tracklist on a whiteboard. A close examination, however, reveals a slew of potential A-list features including Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, Offset, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, Jack Harlow, Freddie Gibbs and Doe Boy.

While further details surrounding the project remain scarce, I’m Really Like That will serve as DJ Drama’s first solo album since 2016’s Quality Street Music 2, which boasted appearances from Lil Wayne, T.I., Young Thug and others.

The album announcement comes at a busy time for Drama. Over the last few years, the Philadelphia native has resurrected his beloved Gangsta Grillz series with several high-profile releases from the likes of Tyler, The Creator, J. Cole and Dreamville, Snoop Dogg, Jim Jones, Symba and more.

His latest offering came with longtime collaborator Jeezy in the form of Snofall, which dropped last month.

Snofall was a long time coming for the duo, especially considering their past issues. During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Jeezy spoke about his beef with DJ Drama and how they ultimately resolved it.

Quavo & Takeoff Get “Messy” For Halloween In New Video

Quavo & Takeoff Get "Messy" For Halloween In New Video

Quavo and Takeoff go on a horror-themed trip in the new music video for “Messy” off their collaborative effort Only Built For Infinity Links. Check it out below.

Source: HipHopDX

The duo unleashed the video directed by Quavo and Daps on Monday (October 31), right in time for Halloween. The visual finds Quay and Take sleeping in a car before they wake up, both confused by their dreams.

The video progresses into a home where things get a bit spooky for the Atlanta, Georgia, natives as they walk through various rooms and witness a bunch of oddities.

“Messy” stirred up a lot of chatter when the album was first released, thanks to fans thinking Quavo referenced his breakup with Saweetie and rumors that she may have had an affair with someone in his crew.

“I said ‘Caresha, please’ ’cause she too messy / Bitch fucked my dawg behind my back but I ain’t stressin’ / You wanted the gang? You shoulda just said it, we would’ve just blessed it / Now shit got messy,” Huncho rapped on the song “Messy.”

While Quavo didn’t name anyone in particular, many listeners believed he was referring to his partner-in-rhyme and cousin Offset sleeping with his ex-girlfriend Saweetie, suggesting it was the reason behind the Migos’ sudden breakup earlier this year.

Other fans speculated Quavo was talking about fellow Atlanta rapper Lil Baby, who was rumored to have had a fling with Saweetie last year.

The 4PF boss seemingly addressed the situation on the tracks “Stand On It” and “Not Finished” — taken from his newly released album It’s Only Me. Baby spits a few verses that had fans assuming he was somehow involved in the messy situation between Quavo and Saweetie.

“I don’t want yo bitch, we can’t swap out (Swap out)/ They ain’t on shit, tell ’em to pop out (Pop out),” he raps on “Stand On It.”

Then on “Not Finished,” Lil Baby seemingly references the picture of the Icy Girl allegedly sitting on his lap during a New York shopping spree that started the rumors of the two hooking up last year.

Drake and 21 Savage Collab Album Her Loss Dropping Next Week

Drake and 21 Savage Collab Album "Her Loss"

Without much fanfare, Drake and 21 Savage have announced their collaborative album, titled Her Loss, will be dropping next week.

Source: XXLMag

On Saturday (Oct. 22), Drake released the music video for the fan-favorite track “Jimmy Cooks” featuring 21 Savage, and at the end of the visual, revealed in typographic letters, “HER LOSS – ALBUM BY DRAKE AND 21 SAVAGE – OCTOBER 28, 2022.” Subsequently, Republic Records, Drizzy’s distribution label, shared a screenshot of the announcement on their Twitter account.

Drake and 21 Savage’s song “Jimmy Crooks” is the last track featured on Drake’s latest album, Honestly, Nevermind, which dropped in June. The 14-song collection arrived following reports that the OVO head honcho signed a $400 million deal earlier this year. Initially, Drake generated some backlash for the album’s predominantly house and Baltimore club music sound, with “Jimmy Crooks” being the standalone hip-hop-sounding track.

Drake addressed the bad reviews and memes that were being made in response to Honestly, Nevermind on his Instagram account. “It’s all good if you don’t get it yet. It’s all good,” said 6 God in his IG video. “That’s what we do. We wait for you to catch up. We’re in here, though. We’re caught up already. On to the next. My goodness.”

This isn’t the first time Drizzy has teamed up with another big-name rap star. In 2015, Drake paired up with Future on their collaborative mixtape, What a Time to Be Alive.

Meanwhile, 21 Savage has a few collab albums under his belt. The Atlanta rapper partnered with producer Metro Boomin on two projects: 2016’s Savage Mode and 2020’s Savage Mode II. 21 also collaborated with both Offset and Metro Boomin on 2017’s Without Warning project.

Rihanna To Reportedly Return With New Music For ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

Rihanna To Reportedly Return With New Music For ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

It’s been years since Rihanna has released new music, but that streak could be ending soon.

Source: HipHopDX

Per HitsDailyDouble, RiRi is slated to land a pair of songs on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

The Ryan Coogler-directed sequel is set to hit theaters across the country on November 11 with an accompanying soundtrack also arriving. The Marvel blockbuster’s soundtrack will hit streaming services via Marvel/Disney and Westbury Road/Roc Nation/Def Jam.

After giving birth and welcoming a baby boy with A$AP Rocky in May, Rihanna is ready to reassert her dominance on the music scene. She’s already been tapped to headline the Super Bowl LVII halftime show in Glendale, Arizona next year.

Earlier in October, HitsDailyDouble teased the possibility of the beauty mogul heading out on a stadium tour following her Super Bowl performance in 2023.

The singer has not released any new music as a solo artist since her multi-platinum 2016 album Anti, sparking an ongoing outcry for new material by her Navy on social media. Even as a featured artist, RiRi’s last appearance was on PartyNextDoor’s “Believe It” in 2020.

With the long break in between touring, Rihanna admitted she’s “nervous” to hit the grand Super Bowl stage.

“I’m nervous!” she told paparazzi while wearing a long-sleeve tee honoring the late DMX. “But I’m excited.”

JAY-Z’s Roc Nation is credited with partnering with the NFL as strategic entertainment advisors to put the Super Bowl halftime show together and Hov sang Rih’s praises after news broke of her selection.

These Are the SoundCloud-Era Rappers Ranked on Current Impact

These Are the SoundCloud-Era Rappers Ranked on Current Impact

Source: XXLMag

The SoundCloud era of rap was sensational. Flourishing from about 2015 to 2019, the movement birthed a peerless class of artists who refused to fall in line. These artists preferred to push the needle with their otherworldly artistry, and the result was an immense amount of impact in the rap game. From deep cuts to respected projects that have been stamped as classics, what a time it was.

These days, the streaming service is getting a breath of fresh air with a new movement that’s been brewing. Talented names like Bktherula, Yvngxchris, Iayze, Ken Car$on and Tana have picked up where their OGs have left off. So, considering the platform’s reinvigorated popularity, enough time has passed to spotlight and rank the inaugural artists who used SoundCloud as a vehicle to success.

Artists like Chance The Rapper and Travis Scott were pace-setting superstars, and some of the first to utilize SoundCloud. At the halfway mark of the last decade, they were already on their way to superstar status, serving as an example for newer rappers who were seeking out their own come ups. XXL highlights the SoundCloud-era rappers that came after them, ranking their place in the game now based on their current impact. The following artists are included in the conversation.

By 2016, the game would be blessed with the presence of Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti, two boundary-shifting spitters who thrived with their free-flowing melodies and charismatic lyrics with swagged-up personas to match. Together and individually, alongside other names like 21 Savage and Kodak Black, they sparked a fire in music that has yet to lay down.

A little later, a secondary unit picked up the keys and unlocked the elevator to success. Artists like XXXTentacion and Juice Wrld reigned as a voice of the youth, blending rock, rap and lo-fi genres into one ear-pleasing potion. They were stamped as young prophets, and though their careers were both cut short, X and Juice delivered music strong enough to make it into hip-hop’s history book and into the SoundCloud Hall of Fame.

There are plenty more artists worth discussing as well. But first, let this be known: this list is ranked based on impact as well as catalog quality, commercial success and accolades. Additionally, only solo artists are included (sorry to the legendary $uicideboy$) and not every artist from that time period made the cut. This is a tight composition of the best 20 acts, which includes why they matter and how they fare against each other in the grand scheme of things.
